Jurong Bird Park

If you are looking for a quick break from the hustle and bustle of the Singapore urban lifestyle, visit the Jurong Bird Park where thousands of colourful birds will amaze you with their variety, shades, shapes, sizes and even with their talents. Being an enchanting paradise of birds, it houses the world's largest collection of Southeast Asian birds and is a proud winner of many tourism awards. Built on the western slope of Jurong Hill and stretched over an area of 202,000 square metres, Jurong Bird Park is the largest in the Asia Pacific and one of the finest bird parks in the world. Making a home for more than 8,000 birds from 600, Species from all over the world, the bird park offers visitors an experience that is entertaining as well as educational.

The best way to start a tour of the Bird Park is to board the panorail system. Its route covers the entire Park, providing excellent elevated views of the various exhibits with a running commentary pointing out the main attractions. Alternatively, you can walk using the Park's footpaths and map. Visitors can enter, traverse and exit Lory Loft at treetop level, allowing for a bird eye’s view of the majestic panorama. From beginning to end, the Lory Loft provides visitors with a 360 degrees elevated view of the park. The ever popular bird shows, that displayed at pre-scheduled timetables are an integral part of the trip and are specially designed to entertain children.

Amongst the other attractions of the Jurong Bird Park are the world's biggest man made waterfall and the world's second largest penguin exhibit. The Penguin Parade enclosure, a make-believe Antarctic beach houses more than 200 penguins of five species. Within the Penguin Parade enclosure, there are some 50 other sea-birds such as the inca terns and puffins. Another highlight is the Southeast Asian Birds Aviary featuring a walk-in aviary with simulated tropical thunderstorms everyday at noon, the birds enjoy an environment designed to be as natural to their original habitat as possible. The Waterfall Aviary is a firm favourite, being a very cooling and attractive spot and it provides home to 1,500 free-flying African birds.
